passion projects

As passion projects end the workload is creeping up for most people it has been a rush to finish our project.  I, however, feel that I have had a good workload and am confident about my project.   I think that this passion project has been one of the best for me, however, my plan hugely swayed about halfway through passion projects.  This did set me back a bit but it lead me to an even better plan.

Athletics Day

Recently we had our year 5 athletics day.  I really enjoyed this event, however, I did end up quite tired; My favorite part was the shot put even my family showed up.  Overall I think this was a really fun day. hopefully, we will get to do discuss next time.

Money Money Money

This week we have been working really hard on our inquiry;  As a group, we picked some of our favorite ideas e.g Playdough or decorations.  We then went to room 17 and surveyed their classroom to get an idea of what people want.  However recently we revised our groups to improve our product and to learn to work with new people.  Next year I would like to develop this inquiry to the point of selling to the local community.

wet ,wacky, weird

This tuesday all the year 5 classes went on a trip to a sustainability challenge.  It was a terrible day, it was wet and my body was itchy all over but it ended up a decent day we did lots of challenges with a few checkpoints here and there.  we could have definitely done better but that wasn't the goal we just wanted to have fun despite this we still did pretty well.  Additionally, the people in my group were me, Jonathan and Reuben.  Being one of the smallest groups we didn't have any major group split problems but still a few minor difficulties. Overall I liked the day but probably wouldn't do it again.

grandpa, granny and grandparents

On Friday last week, the whole school participated in grandparents day. we all had prepared games and activities for us and our grandparents.  Sadly some grandparents couldent come so some kids grouped up with 1 granparent.

I made a board game that was, in theory, awesome because I based it on my favorite video game but it ends ups that years of graphic design ends up better than 50 mins of jotting down sections.

tree houses

Over the last 2 weeks, we have been making tree houses

I have been working with Owen and henerry to give different opinions.

I think our tree house is the best because of our crazy ziplines and slide.

I enjoyed making our tree house because we did lots of building and a lot of taping. I worked with who I did because we were all at a similar stage which meant I didn't miss anything.

Do you know our natives?

Do you know our natives? If not you will now I will go in depth explaining our birds and environment.

In NZ alone, we have over 60 species of birds! that's a lot of types but we used to have 196 birds only 200 years ago.  This drop is caused by humans and animals that humans introduced.  Subsequently causing our species of birds to drop drastically.  Notable birds include the moa and itś enemie the hasstś eagle theses are both iconic because they are some of the largest birds in the world but despite their size, the humans managed to win.

Now I have talked about our largest birds I will discuss the rest of New Zealand's nature.  some of the most famous nature includes the Karori tree and the fern both beautiful nature scattered through our reserves and forests.  Thousands of people are protecting our forest but the damage is already done. All we can do is protect the species we have.  Itś not like we can bring them back. Or can we?

Recently there has been a surge of knowledge of how we can modify animals and possibly bring back our favorite animals like the moa, owls and more amazing species but that is still in progress.  But back to my point, We have many ways to protect our species and some including opening pest-free islands and more things to let species breed up then they can be released back into the forest.

Overall we are truly starting to realize what we have done and now are trying our hardest to keep our native animals and forest alive.
